Unfortunatly I’ve found that the jws version on linux (ubuntu in my tests) cannot use shoka local networking. This issue is related to ipv6 support in linux and multicast support in shoka.
Linux users who expirienced this problem can try the single jar version…
I hope to fix this soon
These is an intermediate release while I’m preparing the full tag support…
This release is quite usable on mac os x. Some new problem is introduced by the new network sharing code. I hope to resolve them as soon as possible.
what’s new :
Running from jws, jre 5.0 was required and now it’s fixed to support 5.0 or greater. If you experienced proplem running shoka via jws with jre 6.0, please try again.

I’m currently working to fix display problems on linux. I didn’t imagine SWT should behave so differently on different platforms.
The source code distribution will be modified to easily compile under linux ( I use a Ubuntu Dapper Drake distr ). So, linux users, come back next week and download 0.1.3 source code.
At least I’ve finished this first bug fighting… and 0.1.2 is the result…
It’s very faster than 0.1.101 in the icon view and browsing.
Mac users will enjoy the new thumbs rendered using cocoa.
Some note:
While working on some bugfixes and speed-ups I found a way to generate thumbnails through the mighty cocoa-java bridge… Very quick but also very dangerous as you must pay attention to garbage collection. If the VM garbage collect a cocoa object that wasn’t correctly disposed… CRASH! The vm is down. This is a really bad issue for a Java programmer. One of the few certain things about java is that even if you’re a bad programmer and write bad programs it won”t crash.
Nothing that can be resolved with a couple of hours of hard work. But times goes by and release slips away…
After a long period of intense meditation, it’s finally ready.
Keep in mind that this is a beta version, so be carefull and take a copy of your documents.
This version is available for download for Mac Os X as a dmg, and via Java Web Start for other platforms.
